Professional Experience

Before joining Mello Torres, Thaís worked at Pinheiro Neto since 2012 and was a senior associate in the firm’s capital markets practice. Prior to joining Pinheiro Neto, she worked as in-house counsel at Brazilian financial institutions, as well as at ANBIMA, the association responsible for self-regulating the Brazilian financial and capital markets. During her time at ANBIMA, Thaís was seconded to the CVM for 4 months.

She focuses on infrastructure, debt and equity capital markets transactions, regularly advising publicly-listed and closely-held issuers and underwriters in a plethora of capital markets transactions, including equity and debt offerings, securitization transactions, liability management structures, publicly company registrations and capital raises for Brazilian fintech companies.

Thaís holds an LLB from Pontifícia Universidade Católica, an LLM from the Jay Pritzker Northwestern School of Law and a certificate in business administration from the Kellogg School of Management and has worked as a foreign associate at the New York office of Hogan Lovells.

Thaís has been shortlisted in Capital Markets – Debt and Equity – Women in Business Law Americas Awards 2020 (only associate shortlisted in both areas) and indicated as a Rising Star – Debt Capital Markets – IFLR 1000, in 2019 and 2020. She is frequently regarded by clients and peers as one of the most knowledgeable and recognized capital markets lawyers in Brazil. In 2023, Thaís is shortlist for the Rising Star Award of the IFLR’S Women in Business Law Americas Awards 2023.
